There is not better word than BITTERSWEET to describe this past week we have had. The news of our dear prophet passing and then two other deaths in each of our families has really brought a lot of thought to our minds. We couldn't be more thankful for the Gospel in our lives at times like these. The knowledge we have of the Plan of Salvation is so comforting. I am thankful for the knowledege that we will see these people again. I am thankful that we can have forever families. I am grateful for FAMILY.
Lela Young Day (5/14/1926-1/30/2008)
Last Wednesday morning we heard the news that our Grandma Lela (Day) had passed away. It kind of came as a surprise but at the same time it was expected. I don't think the news of hearing that someone has died is ever really "expected." Her viewing was last Sunday and her funeral Monday. Grandma Lela has had Alzhiemer's for the past few years and that is all I really know her as. My favorite memories of her are all when she was living in Jamestown, a senior living center in Provo. I took a Social Work Class last fall and had the opportunity of volunteering there. I loved to go visit her and most of the time I would find her in the salon getting her hair done. I loved the stories she would tell of growing up in Roosevelt and of her family. Jord's favorite memories mostly consist of different games they would play - PIT and Marbles, and the story of Davy she would read at the Day family Christmas party every year. I have heard lots of great stories about her from when Jordan was growing up and all the stories that were told at her funeral. I know that she was such a fun lady with a great sense of humor. I am grateful for the example she was to Jord and the rest of the family ... I am thankful for her posterity and her legacy that we will all remember until we meet her again.

Last Saturday morning we heard the news that my Great Grandma passed away. I thought ... 'are you seroius!?' That is death #4 that I have heard about in the last week and a half! I like to say that Heath Ledger's just kicked it off ... because then it was President Hinckley, Grandma Day, and then Great Grandma. After Grandma Day's funeral on Monday, we basically kept our bags packed from being in Midway all weekend to fly out to St. George on Tuesday. Her funeral was Wednesday in Mesquite. It was great to be with more family despite the circumstances. Like Grandma Day's funeral, it was fun to hear memories of Great Grandma. She was such a stubborn, 'fight until the end' kind of lady. My favorite memories of her are her long pretty fingernails that always had to be painted and all of her plate, spoons, and knick knack collections. After her funeral we all went to her house and us grils got to go through all of her jewelry and the pictures she had lying around. The pictures weren't too fun because they are all the same ones we already have because they are copies that our parents have sent her over the years. And out of ALL of them, there was not really any of her! So when I got home, I searched high and low, through ALL of my pictures, my baby book, and every where else I could think of and I found NOTHING! I think my mom has them all in her photo albums at home. All I have of her are these two pictrues ... but they are perfect! They are so Grandma. She LOVED the SUN! Here she is at Grandma Diane's in California some years back...
