NYC - Day 3 (4.11.10)

sunday was a more relaxing day.
we visited Ground Zero for a few hours.
even though i have been there before, all of the same somber feelings come back
and i feel overwhelmed with emotion.
it is crazy to think 9/11 was almost 10 years ago and they are still working on the memorial.
it is going to be amazing. i can't wait to go back and visit when it is completed!
we walked around for awhile to find somewhere to eat for lunch,
and then we made our way over to magnolia bakery for some yummy cupcakes.
we then went to see WICKED
probably a favorite (for everyone) of the trip ...
and what is a vaca to new york without at least 1 broadway show on the agenda?

the "famous" church where all of the first responders and rescue workers rested and were cared for.

everything that was once on the actual ground where the trade centers stood is now in this building ... for now. once the memorial is done, there will be an actual museum with all of the stuff inside this memorial site. so awesome.

this picture was taken 15 minutes before the first plane hit the north tower

we walked across the street and into a building where we viewed the construction site of the memorial

we rode the subway lots! and to enter or exit the subway there is always a ton of stairs!
i had to snap a pic of ad - 7 1/2 months preggo - hiking them. she was such a trooper to keep up with us everywhere we went.
people do not walk slow around this city!

posing with my chocolate and red velvet cupcakes!

we had to walk through the Hershey's store in Times Square too.
here i am churning some chocolates into a bucket to take home to my in-laws.

because we can't take any pictures inside the theater ... this is the only one we got to prove we did actually see WICKED.
