DAY 5 - TUESDAY
we spent the day in down town malaga. the town sits right along the coast where you look out to the mediterranean sea forever. this is where most of the cruise ships come in. there is a lot of great shopping and another one of malaga's popular tourist attractions ... another castle, called Alcazaba. it was a long, HOT day that turned out to be better than we thought when we first drove into the town. looking back ... it was FUN like every other day we were there. without further ado, here is our day in pictures ...

when we first got off the exit, we stopped by carrefour to pick up a map
jen and meg ... does this bring back any memories!?!?! i had to take a picture just for you two! (we visited this place often in romania!)

ALCAZABA
once again i got this picture from a website. credits to them ... thanks tripadvisor.com
and the history of this cool castle too (again, just for OUR memory)

A short walk up from the Plaza de Aduana are the solid fortified walls of La Alcazaba, a major landmark of the city. This fortress dates back to the 700s, although much of the structure belongs to the mid 11th century. The entrance is through the gateway known as the Puerta del Cristo (Christ's Door), where the first mass was celebrated following the Christian victory over the town.

This pathway leads up through attractive landscaped gardens punctuated with bubbling fountains, carrying on through the gateways of Puerta de las Columnas, Arco del Cristo and Arcos de Granada. Several terraces offer magnificent views of the town and harbour. A small palace within the inner perimeter is now the home of the Archaeological Museum.

Just below the entrance to the Alcazaba are the ruins of an amphitheatre dating from Roman times. This dates back to the second century AD, and are currently under restoration. Above here there is a steep path that leads to the castle which crowns the Gibralfaro Hill.

yup, we pretty much walked all of THIS to get to the castle!

trevor's face says it all

east was loving the bumby ride ... the entire walk up to alcazaba and all throughout the castle was ROCKS

ad and her little doorways:)

jordino!

part of the pathway up to the actual entrance of alcazaba

another cool designed ground somewhere inside alcazaba

the place wasn't too exciting until we walked into a little room of pottery!

if you can't tell by their faces ... they are a little excited! (sarcasm here)
i think my mom is laughing at a joke my dad made ...

east in another little nook
alhambra and alcazaba kind of go 'hand in hand'

jac was a little ornery (P.S. this is the ugliest spelled word!) so i made her take a picture with me ... surprised she is smiling:)

the boys! yes, josh has a sucker in his mouth. and yes, he tried to feed it to easton!

being the little photographer she is

girls!

after touring alcazaba, we started walking toward the middle of the town to go shopping along the famous CALLE LARIOS (street Larios). we spotted a Cheers and had to stop and eat. not as good as we hoped. american restuarants never are outside the states though ... don't ask what we were thinking. we were just bloody hot and needed a rest!
spain had LOTS of horse and carraiges along it's streets. we passed this one with braids and i thought was SO funny, i had to get a pic!

getting ready to stroll down calle larios

cute sunglasses east!

CALLE LARIOS
it was so nice to have that "covered ceiling"

LARIOS is adriana's maiden name! YES her family originated there! pretty cool!

i had to take a picture of our big van carefully parked in a TINY, skinny stall
parking was like this everywhere in spain. the whole family would pile out before dad parked it

after hanging out downtown all day, we went home for an hour or two to vege before heading to dinner at our favorite place, JAMAICA. easton enjoying his stroller ride to the resturaunt.

easton with uncle josh
i had to get a few photos of these two since i bought the shirt easton is wearing just for my brother. he is obsessed with any and everything irish. he wanted to go there so bad on his mission. when it didn't happen, he chose to go there for our family vacation when he got home from ventura, california where he acutally served.
i had to buy the shirt as soon as i saw it! it turned out to be pretty cute on east too!

in this video, easton is showing off his first "word" or sound really. my parents are convinced he is trying to say grandma and grandpa. won't it be crazy if it really is his first word! i have been trying hard to get easton to make the M sound ... mama! but i have a feeling he will say dada before. anyway, thought this video was cute and had to capture it for memory sake!

after being wired for a couple hours and then fussing so bad when i tried to put him down for bed, he decided to fall asleep in grandpa's arms within 15 minutes of being held by him and watching all of us play cards. ... little stinker!
